A corrupt data file can cause any client application to crash or behave strange, usually a damaged file results in one or more damaged elements, for example an object may contain a field with infinite size. Because QSycnhronization will access all elements it will find the damaged one. (The same can happen to the file system, if you link a sector to itself all programs will work normally, but backup will crash trying to copy the file of infinite size). The profile (control panel/mail) can be damaged by removing any data file from Outlook while Outlook is running, all versions of Outlook have an error which leaves registry keys of deleted files and reading them at startup. OLfix is able to find the keys and allows to remove them.
